P.A.C.A. Road Trip - Day 2

Starting this second day by stopping in Aigues-Mortes in the Camargue region, a medieval fortified town that saw three crusades leave from its shores.

Our one-day friends had left us already on Sunday evening, except Phil "Tattoo" who rides a bright orange Triumph Speed Triple from 1995. He will leave this morning back to Nantes in Britany; the guy rode 2000 km just to hang with us a few hours on 300 km roads! Dedication & brotherhood.

Our group has come together more already, riding styles improve and everyone is getting use to the zillion curves on those gorgeous roads & surroundings.

Variety is today’s scheme. We’re going up from Camargue to Arles, through the Alpilles chain of mountains, stop by the Baux-de-Provence village, keep going up to the Lubéron north of Aix-en-Provence, through the bikers famous curves of Lourmarin ( ! ) to reach Apt, leading us then to the high-altitude steps of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, surrounded by poppy fields and lavender, to end up at our final destination of the day, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.

The variety of landscapes, smells and road types is staggering. Of course the weather remains perfect.

Beyond the ride itself, the human adventure is a strong feeling that is rich & rewarding. The group cohesion, the feeling of brotherhood, the impression to have frozen time and put ourselves in a bubble to enjoy & share this moment together, those are all feelings that are as important and present as the joy of riding freely on beautiful open roads.
