P.A.C.A. Road Trip - Day 6
Friday May 20th, day 6/6, all good things must come to an end. And what an ending: the best weather conditions of the week, the purest sky, the warmest temperatures and no wind whatsoever!
Today’s destination : the Mont-Ventoux, nicknamed "Le Géant de Provence". Peaking at 1911m (6,269 ft.), it overlooks the entire Vaucluse department.
From Aix-en-Provence, we ride up to Cavaillon, then Carpentras to access the Mont-Ventoux through Bédouin. As we go up, we pass by hundreds of bicycle riders who came to face the challenge of going up this peak. We are almost embarrassed to get up there in less than 20 minutes when it takes them at least two and a half hours.
The view from up there will stay with us for a long time. One last lunch break at the châlet Reynard and it's time to split up and say good-bye to each other.
I have been back in Paris for three days now and feel like everyone else does: very nostalgic of that week riding on those open roads. Yet I know that for some of us, we’ll be doing it again very soon, this time in the Pyrenees on our way to Wheels & Waves in Biarritz...stay tuned for THAT.
